CENTRE THEORY TEST

The NNZ Learning to Umpire Module for New Umpires and Player Umpires replaces the Netball New Zealand Centre Theory test. This module is the first step towards the Centre Umpire Award. To complete the Learning to Umpire Module, follow the link IMC Learning Suite - Login (sporttutor.nz) .  Once you have completed the Learning to Umpire Module, download the certificate and send it through to development@hbnetball.co.nz

Hawke's Bay Netball offer a range of learning opportunities for Umpiures of all levels.  If you are just starting out, coming to the Bay from another region or already an established qualified Umpire we can support you.

2025 UMPIRE REGISTRATION 
Umpire registrations for the 2025 club and secondary school season will be available from 1st Feb. 

Sign up to Umpire in our Summer Netball competitions in Hastings on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and in Central Hawke's Bay on Thursday evenings (paid) to get in some game time before the season begins.

Hawke's Bay Netball's Learn to Umpire Programme is designed to provide Year 7 to Year 13 students the opportunity to give umpiring a go and familiarise themselves with the rules, protocols and procedures of umpiring. This programme is a good way to ease umpires building confidence in umpiring ability. The programme aims to improve participants with quality experiences that will help players develop and enjoy umpiring.

WORKSHOPS 

The Introductory Learn to Umpire Workshop is for beginner umpires as well as those who have no formal qualifications but who umpire to assist their club or school or start umpiring for our Hawkes Bay wider community.

This workshop will cover the basic Netball rules and you will walk away with a greater understanding of the rules of the game.

What will be covered in the Introduction to basic rules?

- Court layout (sides)

- Umpire equipment

- Rule Book & Protocols

WHATS NEXT?

After attending the 'Learn to Umpire' workshop you will then be in our HBN umpire database and will have the oppotunity to opt into umpire the 6-week Summer Netball competition to further develop your skills with guidance from our umpire coaches.
